This patient was so fortunate to have a physician like you take the time, see her, look at the whole picture. Then give her advice and tell her why you giving her that advice. That is so key. I wonder how much of her non compliance is due to fear of not being heard or dismissed or past experiences and interactiions that lead her to expect she must diagnose herself prior to actually being seen or heard.
