I'm wondering if quality in healthcare can ever be measured by data. Oh, there will be numbers reporting this or that and promoting the data as great progress in patient safety, but as you note, it takes two unsuccessful visits to the ER before geting to you to get a diagnosis of scabies, which only comes from a physician who actually listens to the patient instead of trying to get a hit on some quality measure. Patients know they aren't getting quality care whatever the data supposedly shows. Why are the data mavens so dense?
