Rescue Pup Vetoed by Alpha Female
Update on the dog who jumped into my car the other day on my way through Van Buren…
I gave it my best shot. This morning I left the Alabai dogs out by the horses and Shelby and I brought the puppy over. He was calm and loving in the car back to my house, where we had stopped briefly on our way to the shelter the day we found him.
We let him walk where my dogs go and he sniffed their pee and poop. He did his stuff. Then we brought him in the house. He checked everything out, and jumped up on the bed for a little while. Then we put him in a crate in the living room. He started to puppy bark, high-pitched.
I got Sara , the younger, white, Alabai and walked her so she could sniff where he had done his business. Then I brought her in the house, and she went over to his crate. She seemed eager to get to know him. But he barked loudly, and she almost jumped backward because he was so intense. She stayed close by, watching him with mild eyes.
Next, I walked Stella the same route and she started growling. I brought her in the house and she growled and barked and started pulling toward the living room. The closer we got to him the louder she growled and barked. She is the first dog I brought into this house when I moved back here at the time of my separation, and I promised her from the very beginning I would never get another dog that she didn’t approve of, that was the deal even with her daughter, Sara. I brought her over for a trial visit and she never went back to the shelter.
This time was different. Stella’s and my bond is my primary canine relationship. She was here first.
So the Central Aroostook Humane Society has a hound mix available, sweet and loving, wonderful traveler, but a little intense around other dogs.
My Maine Coon sure did take a liking to you! Two hours after your visit, “Nunouze” spent a majority of his time on top of the back of the couch. Waiting for the door to spin back in for you to come back in. Lol he’ll be happy to see you again soon I’m sure.!
